This is the third and, in my opinion, the best to date of the historical thrillers featuring Cambridge professor of Tudor espionage, Tom Wilde.
This story carries on from where the previous novel, Nucleus, finished with Tom and Lydia on honeymoon (even though the marriage ceremony didn't take place!) in France during the days before the outbreak of World War II.
This book has been very well researched and written with great attention to political and historical detail including the uncertainty of the time about whether the USA would join the Allies in fighting Germany and the USA Ambassador, Joseph Kennedy's influence.
It has a great sense of place - Cambridge and the Fens.
The book has the addictive pace of a Jeffrey Archer novel combined with the intrigue and mastery of Robert Harris.
I am bereft now that I have finished reading Nemesis and hope the next in the series is in the pipeline.
I feel sure that the movie rights to this series will be taken up as Tom Wilde will be as popular with an audience as Indiana Jones and Robert Langdon are.
