I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I would especially recommend this book to anyone who has not read a lot of historical fiction novels. I found that this story had a lot of information and scene setting to it, which I found fantastic, it allowed me to really feel part of the story. The setting of war is tense, you can feel the threat of it approaching, affecting the lives of everyone in the story.
This is the first story that I have read with the protagonist Tom Wilde - I did not realise this until after I had read the book! I did not find this confusing in any way, so it is not essential to read the other book first.
There was also an underlay of mystery underpinning the whole story. There were a lot of plot twists and I must say I was very surprised at certain parts.

I do not want to go into the plot too much, as I think that would decrease your enjoyment of the story. In this case, I would pick up this book right away as you do not want to miss out. This is an action packed novel, that you will fly through. Including topics including IRA terror attacks and the beautiful city of Cambridge allows the story to be varied yet interesting.
