From the synopsis it sounded like a run of the mill whodunnit, the front cover implies it's something to do with a fire, but nothing in the synopsis or first few pages tallied with that. From the extract I wasn't quite prepared for the main character Solomon, quite the interesting character.
Left scarred from an acid attack he hadn't left his flat for 22 months, but was forced out after the phonecall about his sister being attacked. The initial police interview hinted that his family has a history which i am intrigued to find out more about.
Then we are introduced to the brain trust, a group who meet in a pub (except Solomon who anonymously dials via video link but never shows his face to them) to put together questions for gameshows. From just the few pages they appear i am hooked into wanting to experience more from this band of brainiac misfits, hopefully they are going to turn into sleuths with Solomon to help him solve what happened to his sister.
