Well phrased premise, but not impressed by writing style...
Whilst the premise, even though it sounds like so many others novels of the over,t saturated psychological thriller market piqued my attention, I cannot deny that the first impression underwhelmed...
Firstly, the style of writing is bog standard basic, most definitely not literary and just getting the message across however bluntly. I do not get the sense that this will really be anything apart from a middling mish-mash of half a dozen novels that have come before it. I think that the opening of a novel should inspire and get your mind going into overdrive, but after reading this beginning I thought, “here we go, another female making stupid decisions and needing a man to come to her rescue”.. Yawn!
A less amateur narrative would have helped to grabbed and hold my attention.. but alas.. so whilst I would read, I would not buy this novel on the strength of the opening.
