Wow, for a debut book this is one punchy little number! The tagline of 'Rage before beauty' should give you an insight that this is a book best served cold as it's a rather delicious offering of revenge!

In Perfect Ten we meet Caroline Atkinson. Left by her manipulative and abusive husband, he has taken pretty much everything from her; her reputation, her self confidence, part of her sanity and most importantly her children.

In a pit of despair Caroline is drinking too much and hoarding her shopping channel drunk purchases to fill a void that she can never satisfy. One day her ex husband's luggage is sent to her by accident - with it is a holdall containing some information that she has always suspected but now has black and white confirmation of...revenge is always a dish best served ice cold! Caroline will get even with her ex Jack at any cost, and is happy to bide her time.

Oh how I enjoyed this book. It's perfect holiday reading as although the subject matter of abuse is always serious and hefty, there's enough dastardly deeds done by a scorned woman for you to enjoy Jack's comeuppance. Yes the storyline is outrageous and overdramatic but I loved it!

Caroline isn't the most likeable of characters, but we meet her as an utterly broken woman. I was frustrated when she turned to her old crutch of drink and men when she could have been working to get her children home, but I had to remind myself that she had no support or help from anyone and was coping as best she could.

I wouldn't have said this was exclusively a thriller, I think it's part thriller, part women's fiction.

If you want to escape for a few hours and read an utterly addictive book, then get your paws on Perfect Ten!
