Initially, I was hooked by the mentioning of the protagonist's estranged luggage appearing!

The narration is in first person and the tension is evident from the very beginning. The narrator hints at an addressee to whom she demonstrates strength of character, 'You didn’t destroy my life after all. Almost, but not quite.' The events are gradually revealed through the protagonist's recollections. Not mentioning the other person's name seems so powerful as if defacing them, making them inhuman and undeserving of a name in the first place!

There is a concern with popular opinion. The narrator expresses anger at her husband who left her and let others think she was mad. Her character is more complicated than that, she displays an array of emotions and strategies, and her narrative voice keeps you turning the pages!
