Not as good as her first book

I loved Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, I remember reading it in my teenage years, it was such a lovely massive book that was so different from anything else. We have waited a long time for the new book and I am not sure it lives up to the hype judging by the extract. I love the name and the cover but I am not sure about the story. It did not really draw me in but perhaps I need to read more of it.
