I won a copy of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and must confess it took me a long time to get started on it! I wasn't sure from reading the back cover if I would like it and was a bit daunted by the length of it at 1006 pages of small writing! I decided to give it a go and was pleasantly surprised. The story is about two magicians who are bringing back English magic. There are several interesting characters in the book and lots of great story lines. The book took me a long time to read and I found it quite a challenge! There are lots of footnotes, which added interesting information but at times I found a little too much. What I really liked in the book was the subtle humour. I would recommend this book if you want something with a lot of reading that you can really get into. I enjoyed the story and am almost missing reading about the characters now that it is over.
