I loved this book.
Piranesi is quite simply a delightful character.
He lives in a house, which is to say he loves in the world...the house and the world are one and the same.
Piranesi has tasked himself to exploring the house, the world, the halls and vestibules. He keeps journals and documents his findings, the things that interest him. He keeps a catalogue of all the statues. He loves the statues and finds great meaning in them. Indeed the birds seem to use the statues to send him messages. He lives simply. He fishes, he collects seaweed for both fire wood and food. He is a very innocent character and it is this quality that makes him a pure delight to read about in his fascinating world, house. Then there is the other, in search of his lost knowledge...and 16...who has yet to come.
The other Is piranesi's friend and one of only 15 ever to have lived in the world. However the other is not what he appears...

I will not say more for fear of spoilers but this book is a very short but endearing read.
