Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
I was really excited to read this book, but was ultimately left quite disappointed. It is a very very long book, but also a really slow paced read so I feel that it could have been condensed an awful lot.
I love reading stories about magic and with this being about two magicians trying to bring magic back to England, the plot really appealed to me. There were some really interesting characters although I did think that some of the minor characters were more interesting to read about than the two main characters. While the storyline was good, it was very repetitive and I found myself getting bored of it quite a lot and having to put it down for a while. However, the last 100 pages or so it did pick up pace and get more exciting.
I am disappointed that I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as I thought I would. It wasn't awful but I probably won't read anything else by this author. I give it 3 stars.
