This is a highly descriptive story, told from the perspective of Pirinesi, he is in the house, no recollection when he got there, no friends but the birds and occasionally the other, who brings him that which he needs.

Pirinesi logs his days in journals, works out the tides in the house, where he will be safe and when, it's not until he hears of another Pirinesi's day to day life starts to change, he wants more people to be around.

The more he looks for this third person, the more angry the "other" becomes, the more Pirinesi questions his past.

The highly descriptive manner this book is written, transports you to the house, you walk alongside Pirinesi discovering the rooms, the intricate statues, question the bones of people before.

I found this book stunning, and I was both happy and sad to learn the truth of Pirinesi. He's a character you miss.

The house, was also, almost a character in itself, I was sad to leave.
