Not for me

I think I was led astray by this book cover. A beautiful book cover in both the paperback and hardback. I though it would be heavily mythologically involved. What it was was a relatively short book that for me didn't really deliver on plot.

The writing is good, and many people have remarked on how well written is. I was told many a time when I was going to DNF to carry on with it, it gets better. For me is simply didn't.

This book made me realise how much I am a plot driven reader. I need plenty going on and especially if I am reading something I suspect to be fantasy, I simply need more!

The characters are written well enough, but I can't say that I found them particularly exciting or memorable. The main character at many points was actually terribly annoying in his naivety, but I think was absolutely intended to come off that way.

The final reveal at the end of the book felt a bit rushed and I wouldn't;t say for me it reached a satisfying conclusion.

Overall not my favourite (still keeping it because I like the front cover!)
