This story sounds right up my street, and if the previous works of Jennifer Donnelly are anything to go by, this is going to be a strong, well written and intriguing story that I am already excited about. The first read is strong, jumping straight into the story and definitely leaving an impression. I love the take that this story has, and I really want to get into the rest of the story - especially with the significant deviation from the traditional story at the start. This sounds so much fun and I am looking forward to getting to it.
