Wow - what an opening!
I have always loved fairytales and retellings are my favourite subgenre - and just from the first few chapters I'm already hooked!
I love that there is absolutely the sense of familiarity - you know it's Snow White, you know the story - but already the author has put their own new spin on it. The writing style of the prologue instantly pulls you in with it's fast pace and drama, but the descriptions once you move into the first chapter already set the tone of the characters and world - letting you know that whilst this is the story you know, it's different and twisted.
I absolutely love the cover - the shattered apple beautifully stands out against the black background and with the added leaf of gold - I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but it would certainly have me picking it up!
