This is billed as a feminist re-telling of the Snow White story. It opens with the huntsman cutting out the heart of the princess, obviously in the original fairy tale the huntsman pretends that he has done this to fool the wicked stepmother. I did not find the style of the writing very inviting. I have read many retellings of fairy stories and sadly this particular one did not grab me at all.
