I really enjoyed this book! As retellings, can often fall flat in my opinion, I was skeptical about giving this a shot, but I'm very glad I did.

It opened with an engaging and gripping scenes that serve to flesh out many of the familiar characters we all know from the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but there are also other characters, namely the Princes and Tom that are welcome additions and add another layer of depth to the story. I adored her style of writing and very lyrical prose, as well as the interesting shifts in narrator and tone.

The conflict is well established early on, and it revolves around Sophie's character and her powerlessness to help others due to her position as princess. This was immediately beneficial as it serves to help the audience understand and sympathise with Sophie. I also enjoyed the switch to the Queen's perspective in the fourth chapter, as it gives the audience an insight into her motivations and situation. I always appreciate when one dimensional characters, in particular villains, are given this treatment.

Overall a very interesting retelling, and I would recommend giving it a shot!
