This is a retelling of snow white with a twist. I found the characters to be quite complex, and they had many layers to them. It was interesting to see the queen as someone who is opposed to vanity and uses cruelty to earn respect. The princess is a kind girl, but she is cowardly, and would let other people take the fall for her mistakes. And the huntsman doesn’t let sorrow or pity stop him from doing his job, unlike in the original tales.
The first five chapters really captured my attention and left me wanting to know more. It was well written and conveyed moods and atmospheres perfectly through the writing. I was drawn in straight away and from what I have read, I know it would definitely be a great read.
