At first I was a little unsure of this book. I liked the idea of a retold fairy tale, however initially it appeared to be the same as other retellings I have seen before and lacked a little individuality. It is very much within the genre that I normally read and enjoy, however I felt it took a while to get going. Nevertheless, about half way through the book seemed to grab my attention a little more, as the plot began to twist and the story line picked up. Furthermore, I found the characters a little tricky to like and felt this could have been because they weren't described very much making it hard to envisage their personality and appearances. I did however like the cover of the book and found this did grab my attention and make me want to read it. Overall, I thought this book was quite a quick and easy read that I would recommend to people that enjoy quaint fantasy stories.
