At first, you begin to believe this is a retelling of the timeless tale that we all know and love. By the end of the prologue you're hooked. I have only read the first 26 pages however I know this is a book that my bookshelf needs!! I love the concept of the story and so far the descriptions are extremely vivid, I can picture everything happening in my mind. Here's my opinions so far:
- I feel like the characters could have a more in depth personality instead of sticking to the ones that the original story gave them. For example making Sophie having something more than her whole personality being kind. (this could change throughout the book though)
- The evil queen seems like an extremely interesting character and I like how Donnelly has structured her. I hope she features more in the novel.
- "poisoned" seems like a bit of a basic name for such a book (take that as a compliment)
- I LOVE the descriptions of the settings, they're so compelling and detailed.
I haven't read the whole book, only 5 chapters, but it does seem very interesting, so I must give it a go!!
