It starts off by telling us the day the queen orders the huntsman to kill Sophie however it stops in a new chapter to the day before it happens which I love in books!
It’s an amazing retelling of a childhood story with a hint of self-discovery and empowerment with feminist touches.
The cover of the book is what initially pulled me and i’m glad it did!
It’s beautiful as well of the way the book has been written showing the darkness Sophie had to go through.
However, I was confused at the start with the narrator but it soon becomes normal with me reading through it at a fast pace, I was glad the queen was portrayed as cruel like she is in other retelling however i liked the change of her leaving the castle to do hunting and not just staying indoors and bossing around servants and other lady’s. Jenifer Donnelly is a wonderful author and always snaps back with amazing books!
