This is the first book that I have read by Jennifer Donnelly and am pleased to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and I will be definitely be grabbing her other book Stepsister right away!
I love a good fairy tale retelling and to see all the different ways they can be retold and this did not disappoint. This is the story of Snow White (Sophie) as we follow her journey but in a much darker way. This is not like a Disney version but more Brother's Grimm. The cover is stunning, and fits perfectly with the book. It grabbed my attention right from the very beginning and I enjoyed following Sophie's story in this dark and gritty novel.
The writing was beautiful with a feminine twist, and I really hope Jennifer Donnelly brings out more fairy tale retellings in the future.
This book will keep you entertained throughout. It was engaging, and thought provoking.
