Finally! Fairytales for the grown ups!
This is the first I have head of Jennifer Donelly and after checking her out on Goodreads I have marked some more of her book that I MUST read!
I love the cover, I love the temp of the book, I love Sophie and I kinda love the baddies of this book.
I really felt for Sophie throughout the book, at the start especially. Those dark places your mind can take you are pretty scary, making you believe you aren’t good enough, that you are weak and not capable of stepping up (I begged young Sophie to believe in herself so much at the start).
There are plenty of characters, good and bad, throughout the book for us to live and hate, Hannock pulled me in just like Sophie.
It’s a fast paced, dark and eerie retelling of one of my all time favourite stories….. if fact the author did such a good job that I think I may prefer this version!
