If you think you know your fairytales, think again!
I’ve read the first few chapters of this as a first impression and it is outstanding.
The cover draws you in straight away, dark, hinting at the fairytale theme, more Maleficent than Snow White.
The early chapter hooks you in with the ‘death’ of Sophie the main character that takes your breath away and then flashes back to show you some events that may have led her to that point.
She is due to inherit her fathers throne but it is clear that her Stepmother does not think she is up to it. These characters are really well drawn, you get a sense of Sophie’s goodness and kindness very quickly and of the Stepmothers cruelty. She is Cruella, Maleficent and every fairytale evil stepmother rolled into one, I love her!
The action moves quickly and I am really intrigued to see how the plot develops from here on in!
