I feel like Jennifer Donnelly did a really good job of retelling an old Disney classic. Although I haven't read the complete story yet, I know that it's gripping, and definitely something that I would be interested in. Sure, it has a much darker twist, but that's something I like because it's different and unlike most other retellings by other authors or other retellings I've read. The only reason I didn't give this book a full 5 stars is because I found Sophie a bit annoying, and I just couldn't stand her. I'm hoping that she gets less annoying towards the end of the book because honestly she has a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to liking her more!! I'm also very interested to see what the romance aspect turns out to be, because though I have heard a ton of praise for it, I am also yet to experience it myself, and I am hoping to once I get a copy!! Overall, this is good for anyone who likes dark retellings of old Disney classics!
