Wow, just wow I have never been so gripped by a book from its first page, the language the author used was in captivating and fast paced. As well as that the main character, Sophia is relatable as this book focuses on feminist views, I saw modern issues being shown in this period it was very well developed.
Against popular opinion I liked the queen, actually it was more respect, she was a strong woman who knew what had to be done to stay on the throne. She was tactical and smart allowing her to stay queen for six years. As women of her time she would have been treated poorly so she took her bad hand and was strong. There is no doubt that she was horrible to Sophie but I think she did that because she was a product of her time and how women were viewed, as lesser than an man. From the first 5 chapters that I read I really recommend this book, I am extremely excited to read the rest of it. I give it five stars!
