What a great follow up and companion to Stepsister which I thoroughly enjoyed. I think this book has more depth than the previous one. This is a new take on the classic Snow White fairy tale. Full of interesting characters as we follow Princess Sophie on her journey to discover the courage and inner strength that she always had but was unable to unlock. Great book to take yourself away into a mystical land full of dangerous creatures and nasty people - it shows how love and compassion can overcome bullying and cruelty. In these times it has a particular message for those who govern their people with such unforgiving thoughtlessness. The only slight negative is the amount of times that Sophie "nearly" succumbed to her enemies, probably one or two too many for my liking. This is only a minor criticism though as overall this is a really enjoyable and easy to read story. Would make a great Christmas gift!
