I'm going to be honest, I'm usually hesitant to read fairytale retellings - they're either a hit or a complete miss. However, I'm glad I gave this one a chance, it's not just a copy of snow white with some changes here or there, no, it's a completely new take on the classic fairytale where the princess is not someone who desperately needs saving and where the queen being evil has a deeper reason than just vanity.

From the very first chapter, I was captivated and the more I read, the more I got hooked and couldn't wait to turn the page. I really like the way the author writes, the entire vibe if it makes sense. The way the story is told it's really good, the subtle transitions between the different povs (the queen's, huntsman and the princess) are just amazing, you immediately know whoss pov you're reading. I also liked how unforgiving, so to speak, the story is - the author doesn't hesitate to show us the ruthlessness of the world she created, to hit us where it hurts most and I love that.
