I read Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly last year and I loved it and jumped at the chance to read this one. Poisoned is a retelling of Snow White from the perspective of the Huntsman, though this story is more Grimm than Disney!
Sophie is our Snow White and she is a beautiful and trusting young girl. Though her sixteenth birthday approaches, no one thinks she is fit to take the throne.
You all know the tale, the huntsman comes for her heart and leaves her dead, we’re it not for seven brothers and their spider and ladybug friends.
Sophie has a hard journey ahead of her, discovering how broken her kingdom truly is while she travels to a dark and mysterious castle to reclaim her heart.
Jennifer Donnelly has a beautiful way of writing stories that completely suck you in and you can’t put them down.
This is a perfect read for this month if you’re looking for something a little dark to read.
This is a refreshing tale where the Princess doesn’t wait for the Prince, she takes matters into her own hands, overcomes her fears and becomes a total badass.
