I thought this was a really nice book and I liked the story from the start. I especially liked Sophie immediately from the start. She is a character that is easy to like and I found that I could relate to her pretty easily.

The story was a bit too fairytaley for me, if I'm honest, although I should have expected that. I just don't really like the whole spiders that cook thing and various other creatures that did human things and had human emotions. I can deal with Goblins and creatures like that because they are not real but spiders are obviously real.

But I did like the storyline about the fact that fear devours your heart as was the metaphor of this book. It is true. Fear blocks your dreams if you let it and love can move you forward. This is something that I have found very true myself so I do really like the message this book is portraying.
'Being brave doesn't mean fearless, it means being afraid but you do what you have to, regardless of the fear.'
