This book seems to be a fairy tale retelling of Snow White.The evil stepmother role is filled by the Queen who we get to understand more and not just see as a standard villain, which was appealing as it made the dynamic between the sweet hearted sophie and the cruel step mother more interesting. I also enjoyed that the main character was named Sophie and not a more obvious name like Snow. The story stands out as it’s not a classic retelling of the story, the plot seems more intriguing. The language used by the writer made it feel like I was reading a fairy tale which was enjoyable. The book is filled with vivid and descriptive characters, this made the story feel familiar but also set it apart from the original. This story is an interesting take on the original fairy tale and the extra detail and characters makes this book even more enjoyable.
