It was the beautiful cover that originally drew me to this book but it was the story that kept me reading. I love retellings and this is the first time I’ve ever seen Snow White portrayed like this and I loved it.
The prologue did an amazing job of keeping me intrigued and I really enjoyed the writing style as it wasn’t childish or filled with an abundance of boring descriptions but it wasn’t difficult to read or hard to follow along with either.
This book actually made me like the character of the evil queen even if I wasn’t supposed to. This is the first time I’ve ever seen her portrayed as a queen who is smart and intelligent instead of just being obsessed with her looks and I did really enjoy this new side to her.
I especially liked reading through Sophie’s character development as she got more and more confident in herself. I’m glad to she that she realised that someone that could outride the entire royal hunting party was never weak.
