I enjoyed this retelling of a popular tale with the twists of plot. Well written and in-depth characters make the flow of the story and the ideas very readable. A very clever story idea, and very well constructed.
I found the in-depth ideas behind the queen interesting, she was given a much fully identity than the usual basic 'evil queen' almost allowing the reader to have an understanding of her behaviour.
Jennifer Donnelly has created a very readable and interesting novel that would appeal to a wide range of readers. Perfect for the dark autumn evenings, wrapped up warm in front of a roaring fire. It was certainly a book that kept me reading, and was hard to put down, the flow of the writing makes the flow when reading it very seamless and easy.
