Snow White is a well known fairy tale spread through stories and movie adaptations. This book takes the age old story and deepens and twists it in ways no one ever thought to before. While new adaptations of fairy tales are quite popular this on is quite unique. The use of the huntsmen as a narrator reminds me of The Book Thief and it’s similar use of narration. Another interesting twist is giving the “evil” queen a reason to be harsh. There is the slightest echo of care and sympathy from the queen that is excluded in most versions of the tale. The one part that slightly perturbed me was the very beginning. I, personally, am not a fan of reading the ending first and then reading the events leading up to it. While it definitely is a strong hook it feels as if the mystery of how the book ends is vanished. Overall I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to when I can get my hands on a full copy and give it a read.
