I was really excited to read this after reading her previous book Stepsister, however I was a bit disappointed with this one. The main character really annoyed me with how naive she was and the whole needing someone else to save her thing. I get that the author wrote her this way on purpose, but for me I much prefer a strong female character who can fend for herself. The fact that she was tricked and nearly killed by her stepmother 3 times(!) I thought was a bit much. I liked the shortness of the chapters and overall it was a quick read so that went in its favour. The supporting characters I also found much more interesting than the princess, especially the bad guys in the story. I would love to read more about them in future books. As with every good fairytale this one also had a moral to the story and I thought this was a really good inclusion. Overall I would recommend this as a fun quick YA read.
