When I read the first review I thought "Poisened" looked good but a little gruesome and I was intrigued as to how Sophie could go on a quest after having her heart cut out, as it turned out it was brilliant and a little dark! I absolutely loved it!! I found it a real page turner. It is really well written so that you really care for the characters and feel part of the quest. I just love how it's a classic enjoyable story with a twist. You can learn alot from the lessons in this book on feminism and the power that words and fear have to control people. It was great how the story gives you a different take on "Snow white" and the evil queen. Those two characters particularly had so much depth and I liked the queen's back story. I wasn't disappointed by the ending either. I enjoyed it so much I have started on the author's book "Step Sister" straight away! I hope Jennifer Donnelly will do another fairytale retelling in this genre!!
