I was so excited to get my hands on Poisoned after falling in love with Jennifer Donnelly's other retelling "Stepsister". It had such a unique twist on the classic fairy tale I was excited to see how Jennifer Donnelly was going to twist the Snow White fairy tale.
I found the initial premise and idea behind Poisoned was a really original one and that premise alone had me really gripped. The POV and ensemble of characters I really did fall in love with as they were so fully formed and realised.
The issue I had with this book unfortunately was that it introduced so many themes and concepts that it became very messy and not many of this ideas were executed well. I truly feel this book would have been better executed if it had had less of these concepts and focused on just a few.
