Going into this book I thought it was going to be your typical snow white story, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much it had to it. This story is based on Snow White but the older grimmar version than what you may have seen or heard as a kid. It was different and fresh, in the beginning it starts off with the Huntsman who in the story does not deceive the queen he instead kills the princess Sophie and takes her heart back to the queen and in turn the princess is saved by seven brothers who put a clock in her heart to keep it beating. I adored the Timeless lessons woven into the narrative truths that are often contoured by Society just as they were for Sophie by her stepmother. While Sophie did prove for a good portion of the this book she demonstrated great strength of character as she rolls of the cruelty she'd experienced and clung to her own sense of justice and compassion. The writing style was easy to follow and made it flow all together. I loved it. The reason I am giving it 4 starts is because I found it to go a bit to slow paste for me.
