This is a book I would most definitely buy and read. It's a gripping tale of snow white but with a more gloomy, grim twist. This re-telling seems to do everything right so far, it has mystery and intrigue, the characters are similar but not the same, and it's written with the intent of attracting young adults. The book starts quite abruptly with Sophie's death at the hand of the huntsman. A compelling start to what promises to be a good book. The book is told from the viewpoint of the huntsman which is a much more unique outlook making the book all the more interesting. However it would be interesting to see if the narrative shifts perspectives throughout the storyline. The description and imagery in the book is beautifully written. There is a sombre tone in the beginning which distinguishes it from the classic fairy tale. Also have to add that the cover is beautiful and appealing, there isn't too much going on but it gives away a few clues about the basic plot.
