Poisoned is a new version of snow white. Aimed at teenagers it is promoted as a feminist version and it is but not too much as to be off putting. Sophie is made to believe that kindness is her weakness and she won't become queen without being cruel like the current queen. A king can be kind and win wars but a queen has to be feared. This is a brilliant version full of wonderful characters from heroines to villians. Sophie is the princess and modern day snow white trying to survive the clutches of the wicked stepmother. After being saved by seven strangers and talking creatures she must decide whether her kindness is holding her back or will save her in the end. This has everything that you can want in a fairy tale including heroes and villains, fear and joy, love and hate, good against evil. A wonderful read for teenagers that is just as enjoyable for adults to read.
