This book was a really gripping, dark, feminist, retelling of Snow White and there were twists throughout. Jennifer Donnelly has done an excellent job with this book and I would definitely recommend to younger readers! It was such a quick,fast-paced book which kept you intrigued and ensured that it didn't drag on for too long. I absolutely loved the different perspectives throughout and loved all the characters - especially the Evil Queen. The creativity behind this story is truly incredible and the ideas are so original and unique. I've read quite a few retellings of Snow White and this is by far my favourite out of all of them.
At first it took a while to understand that these weren't your typical dwarves but actually spiders and ladybirds and other creatures. However, once this was understood then it actually really added to the storyline and made it a lot more interesting and different.
