Unfortunately 'Poisoned' wasn't my cup of tea and although it had promise it didn't keep me engaged and I had to DNF about 100 pages in. The opening few chapters held a lot of promise but the narrative felt a little stop/start for my taste. I do have to commend the creatives who worked on the front cover though, it was what drew me in initially and will no doubt draw in a lot of other people to pick it up. The feminist take on a classic fairytale was another aspect that really drew me to the novel, but I couldn't connect to the underlying idea that Donnelly presented because of the way the original fairytale overlooked this plot. I think this novel could have been an excellent fantasy tale by itself, with Donnelly creating a new world and characters based on Snow White, but without pulling directly from the tale and it'd have been more approachable for me.
