Emily hasn’t seen her father for years and gets a call from his neighbour, saying he’s recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s which is getting worse. Emily moved to London and her dad is still in New Zealand, so she grudgingly flies out to see him. A once capable and intelligent GP has notes all over his house, reminding him to brush his teeth, how to open a tin.

This is well written and draws you in to the story straight away. You really feel sorry for Felix and his decline, and hope that he and Emily can rebuild their relationship.

There’s also mention of Emily’s friend who went missing in her 20s, 25 years before, and has never been found. I imagine more will be revealed about this as the book goes on.

This seems like a very absorbing and at times emotional read.

I like the colour on the cover but I’m not sure I would pick it up as it makes the book look a bit dreary and dull.
