The story begins twenty five years ago. Leah sets off up a mountain in poor weather and is never seen again. Not a trace of her is found. Emily, the last person to speak with her, leaves New Zealand but after many years has to reluctantly return to care for her ailing father. She gradually discovers he has links with Leah's disappearance.
