This was one book that I pre-judged by its cover, which is fairly muted, but was pleasantly surprised by.

Leah Parata, a young woman, goes missing in the mountains while hiking 25 years ago. No sign of her has ever been found. For the family and town she left behind in rural New Zealand, the mystery still hangs over them.

When Emily returns from London to care for her Father, the town's former GP, who's Alzheimer's is passing the point of no return, something strange strikes her. Her Father begins rambling about Leah's disappearance and she begins to suspect that he may know more than he's ever let on. The challenge is on for her to try and unravel the mystery, before her Father's memory is gone for good.

This was a tantalising slow burn of a story, with the twist always right around the corner, so the tension built up the whole way through. I LOVED the ending and it's been a while since I wanted to go back and discover the twist all over again.
