Leah disappeared many years ago and her disappearance shattered a small, close community. Was there someone in the community who knew what had happened or was she still alive and living elsewhere? This tense page turner hooked me from the start. Emily comes home, from abroad, to look after her father who has dementia, although there are twins in the family who live nearer. Here we have sibling rivalry with the older children thinking they should take charge.

There were lots of questions for the reader to ponder: Do we as adults ever know our family members as well as we think we do? Should secrets be left undisclosed? Is it ever right to do the wrong thing? The subjects of loss, disappearance and dementia and family were well written and having never read any of Charity Norman’s books I would read another.
