Remember me - Charity Norman

Emily returns home to New Zealand from London to look after her father who has dementia. This story follows both Emily and Felix. Remember me shows how dementia follows both Felix and his struggle with coming to terms with the diagnosis he has and also the effects dementia can have on a family. Emily never felt valued growing up, she was the youngest and never felt like her dad showed her the emotional support that a child deserved. Emily hasn’t been to New Zealand in years and she discovers more than she bargained for when she returned. So many things are still the same there for Emily but there is one thing which she is scared to find the truth out about and that is Leah! Leah went missing in 1994 and now in 2019 things are starting to surprise Emily!
This book is very well written, it’s a sad story the effects dementia has on everyone and how little by little they start forgetting everything and everyone, never knowing if they will have good days or bad days. The characters are likeable and relatable. Dementia is an illness which a lot of people can relate to, a lot of people know someone who has suffered with dementia and it’s not an issue that a lot of books focus on. I would highly recommend this book.
