This was the first book I'd read written by Charity Norman, and I can now say that I have found another great author to add to my list of favourites!

This book was so well written, dealing with the very sensitive subjects of both Huntington's and Alzheimers brilliantly. Norman skillfully captured how these awful degenerative diseases effect those afflicted, as well as those who endure the agony of watching these loved ones gradually disappearing.

The plot was expertly crafted; peeling back the layers; revealing just enough, but not too much, along the way. The complexity of relationships within the familes and the friendships of a tight-knit community was fascinatingly well observed. I was particularly moved to explore the changing relationship between Emily and her father. The emotional ending provided a beautifully fitting conclusion to this unexpected story.
