Charity Norman is fast becoming one of my favourite story tellers, this is only the second of her books that I have read, but I will be dashing off to buy more by this talented lady.

This is the story of Leah who mysteriously disappeared 25 years ago, her disappearance has hung over a small, closely knit community for many years and her family are still desperate for answers. We learn about Leah via some flashbacks and the memories of people who knew her. Although do we know everything?

The authour transports the reader to New Zealand where we become shut up with Emily and her elderly father who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. I felt trapped with her and had to keep turning the pages until I found out what had happened. A griping, emotive tale that keeps you guessing and suspecting right until the end,

This book has an excellent conclusion and I turned the last page satisfied that there was no unfinished business, a rare treat in a modern book.

I was provided with an advanced readers copy of this book by Reader’s First, all opinions are my own.
