this is so far my best book of 2022. its ones of those books that is so heartbreaking but it gives you such a good feeling at the end. i didnt want this to end but it was written so perfectly. i have never read anything from this author but i will be scouting her books out from now on.
so in short a doctor starts to lose his memory. he knows it it happening so helps himself by leaving noted around his house. he split with his wife and all the children have flown the nest. emily his daughter comes back to care for him. 25 years earlier their neighbours daughter went missing out in the wilderness and she was never found. dr kirkland leaves a letter in his daughters care for it to be opened on his death. emily wakes one morning to her dad missing. his walking gear has gone with him so they know he has gone into the wilderness too. his body is never found but they know from the letter where he has gone.
