This wasn't a quick read despite being short, but it was a very good one. The way the author deals with the Alzheimer's journey of Felix is heart wrenching, the author demonstrated the difficulties felt by Felix and his daughter Emily perfectly. It is both touching and terrifying.

But this is more than just a story of Alzheimer's it is also the story of the disappearance of a girl, Leah, many years ago and how this rocked the small New Zealand community.

Throughout the book you are left guessing at what is real and what is a symptom on the Alzheimer's and I didn't know what the answer was as I was reading.

This author has an amazing capacity for storytelling, and I enjoyed this as much if not more than The Secrets of Strangers. She is able to take powder keg situations but bring in the realities and complexities of human emotions, memories and reactions.

A must read.
